New Delhi, 26 August 2025 – The Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) successfully hosted the India–Canada Business Meet 2025, a high-level forum designed to accelerate economic collaboration between two of the world’s most promising markets. The dialogue was not just about trade—it was about redefining the strategic trajectory of India–Canada relations.

Strengthening the Economic Corridor

India and Canada share a robust economic framework backed by complementary strengths. Bilateral trade reached CAD 13.32 billion in 2024, with India exporting CAD 8.02 billion worth of goods and importing CAD 5.30 billion. The trend shows no signs of slowing—CAD 3.07 billion was recorded in the first quarter of 2025 alone.

This growth is anchored in sectors where India brings a competitive edge: pharmaceuticals, IT services, textiles, engineering goods, and industrial machinery. Canada’s demand for reliable, cost-effective solutions aligns seamlessly with India’s capabilities, creating a mutually beneficial landscape for collaboration.

Insights from the Leadership

The event was graced by H.E. Masakui Rungsung, Consul General of India in Vancouver, who provided a detailed outlook on bilateral trade. He underlined Canada’s innovation-driven economy, strong legal framework, and strategic access to North American markets—a combination that makes Canada a compelling destination for Indian enterprises.

Adding weight to the discussion, H.E. Rashid Sesay, High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to India, highlighted the Commonwealth advantage in amplifying trade resilience and building inclusive partnerships across multiple geographies.

A Partnership Beyond Numbers

Trade between India and Canada is not limited to statistics—it is a story of trust, shared growth, and innovation. Today, over 600 Canadian companies operate in India, underscoring a thriving two-way investment corridor. This engagement is not just transactional; it is transformational.

The Road Ahead: November 2025 Delegation

To translate this dialogue into concrete outcomes, IETO announced a business delegation to Canada in November 2025. This strategic mission will connect Indian entrepreneurs directly with Canadian policymakers, trade councils, and business leaders, opening doors for joint ventures, technology transfers, and long-term partnerships.

Why This Matters

In an era defined by uncertainty, economic diplomacy and structured engagement are the keys to resilience. The India–Canada Business Meet 2025 reaffirmed a simple yet powerful truth: collaboration fuels prosperity. This is not just about moving goods across borders—it is about building an ecosystem of innovation, stability, and mutual growth.
